THIS IS A MAILED RESPONSE
RSM
RECEIVED in NJ, Late
1978
from
"THE RESIDENTS"
in
San Francisco,
concerning their
opinion of the
"4 From Phonography"
EP
cryptic translation:
Dear
R. Stevie Moore and H.P.,
A truly
marvelous and besides
excellent
record. I mean it.
Goodbye
Piano made me want to
tear out my
hair because it is
so great, and I
never
tear out my hair! I must hear
more
from Phonography! I already
sat Ralph
Records down and said
"Listen to
this, it's great," "This guy's
got
star potential" and all that
good
stuff. They said "hmm" and
"hmm."
(That's good!) So send
more!
I also enclosed a Duck
Stab if
you haven't heard our
latest.
Excitedly yours,
A
Resident

TROUSER PRESS magazine!
We soon heard back from them, seemed they weren't too pleased
that we didn't ask for permission.
Quote Mr. Fox: "We better be careful what we write to you."
(Well, Okay. Uh...sorry, I guess.)
